It turns out that some foods are natural stomach slimmers, either because they aid digestion or because they naturally flush out water weight. Others, usually those high in sodium or sugar, do the opposite. Here are six items Kathy McManus, R.D., director of the department of nutrition at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, suggests you put on (and cross off) your shopping list:
Bloat Causing Foods:
Alcohol – Heavier drinkers tend to have more belly fat.
Soy Sauce – Sodium overload! Salt increases water weight.
Canned Soup – Premade soups are famously high in sodium.
Popcorn – Airy foods tend to pooch out your stomach.
Dried Fruit – High in fiber, yes, but also loaded with sugar

Asparagus – Natural diuretic that helps get rid of water weight.
Salmon: Foods high in omega-3 fats promote digestion.
Watermelon – Another one of nature’s water-weight nixers.
