Signs that Indicate Your Body is Too Acidic and How to Fix it Fast

Your body’s acid and alkaline balance, or commonly known as pH balance, can have a huge influence on your overall health. For your body to function properly, it shouldn’t be just alkaline or just acidic.

Your body’s fluids pH levels are balanced when they are somewhere between:

  • 7.0-7.5 – saliva
  • 7.35-7.45 – blood
  • 4.6-8.0 – urine

Lower numbers indicate that the body is acidic, while higher numbers suggest that the body is more alkaline.

It’s better for the body to be more alkaline, because an alkaline environment is bad for bacteria, viruses and cancer. However, an alkaline diet means that you shouldn’t consume meat, dairy products, rice, pastas, bread, coffee, alcohol etc. and that is way too restrictive!

On the other hand, the acidic environment could cause real damage to the body’s cells, tissues and organs, but if there’s absolutely no acid in the blood, then how would the body digest the food?

Conclusion: balance is the key!

These 8 signs indicate that your body is over-acidic:

1.Fatigue

Bacteria, fungi and viruses develop in an acidic environment. When your body is too acidic, your immune system is trying hard to beat the infection and that makes your body weak. If you’re always exhausted and you don’t have energy to do your daily activities, then maybe you should get your pH levels tested for acidity.

2.Dental Problems

The teeth are bones, and when bones lack calcium they get broken. When your body (in this case the saliva) is acidic, it prevents calcium absorption, making the teeth weak and prone to caries. You may also experience bleeding gums or pain when you’re drinking too hot or too cold beverages.

3.Weak Bones

As we mentioned before, an acidic body is suffering from calcium deficiency, and we all know that calcium is essential for bone strength. So, if you have osteopenia or osteoporosis, it’s very likely that it’s caused by body acidity.

4.Weight Gain

For the body to get rid of the excess waste and toxins, the organs responsible for that task (kidneys, colon, lymph system) have to function properly. And to do that, the blood has to be alkaline. Moreover, the acid in the blood blocks the supply of oxygen to the organs, and without enough oxygen the organs cannot do their job, causing the metabolism to slow down. That means that your body will burn less calories and the food you eat will be stored as fat (not broken down!).

5.Mucus Buildup

An acidic environment prevents the mucus from coming out through your nose, therefore allowing the infection to remain in the body. That leads to sinus issues, chest pain, coughing and respiratory problems.

6.Muscle Pain

The muscles need oxygen to function properly, and the body is lacking this essential element when the blood is acidic. That could result in muscle pain and soreness.

7.Insomnia

If you’re having trouble sleeping, it may be due to the high acidic levels of your blood. There are tons of other reasons as well, so you should go see a doctor to examine you.

8.Skin Problems

The acid not only blocks the supply of oxygen to skin cells, but it prevents the toxins to get out through sweat as well. That means that the skin cells will be filled with toxins, which can cause many skin conditions, such as eczema, rash, allergies and acne.

How to make your body more alkaline?

  • Drink lemon juice with honey on an empty stomach

Lemons are one of the most alkaline foods, even though they taste acidic.

  • Hydrate

You need to drink plenty of water to flush out the toxins of your body (the toilet needs to become your best friend!).

  • Avoid highly acidic foods

That means less: meat, artificial sugar, candies, soft drinks, alcohol, caffeine, white bread and pastries, diary products, rice and pastas.

  • Eat more dark green leafy vegetables

Consume more: kale, spinach, zucchini, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, artichokes, chard, collards, celery and asparagus.

  • Consume organic foods

GMOs are very dangerous for your overall health, not just for making the body acidic!

  • Increase your intake of calcium and magnesium

Your muscles and bones will be grateful if you consume more foods that are rich in these minerals. Those include: fish, nuts, dark green leafy vegetables, flax seeds and grain cereals. You could also take calcium and magnesium supplements.
